What is the mission of Abigails Closet?
Abigails Closet is designed for the local church to build relationships with the local foster care system and Child Protective Services (CPS). Abigails Closet will work as a outreach ministry that foster families and Child Protective Services can utilized. The stocked items that are available will give the church an opportunity to help foster families and Child Protective Services with the basic needs that a foster family may need when a placement occurs.
Is a social media account needed for Abigails Closet to work?
Yes, a church/personal facebook page is imperative in order for Abigails Closet to function properly.
What does the Abigails Closet Supervisor do? (Lee and Gretchen Watson)
The Abigails Closet Supervisor oversees the Abigails Closet Ministries across the state to make sure each one is running as needed. The Abigails Closet Supervisor helps the local church connect to local facebook Group pages (example: “The Loop” facebook group page). These group pages are designed for the church to advertise Abigails Closet services. They also keep up with the data from each participating church to ensure that the Abigails Closet ministry is working appropriately.
The duties of the Abigails Closet Advocate?
The Abigails Closet Advocate will advertise weekly and/or Biweekly on facebook group pages that the supervisor connects them with. The Abigails Closet Advocate will make sure that the closet stays stocked and recruits volunteers in their local church to help donate when needed. The Abigails Closet Advocate will schedule times to distribute goods with the person/persons that need help from Abigails Closet. The Abigails Closet Advocate will keep up with the data regarding the families that the participating church has helped and send it to the Abigail Closet Supervisor.
The duties of the Abigails Closet Volunteers?
Abigails Closet Volunteers (If needed) help provide donations to keep Abigails Closet stocked with Supplies and/or help distribute goods from Abigails Closet when the Advocate is not available.
What will we charge?
Abigails Closet does not charge a fee for these services.
What goods are recommended for Abigails Closet?
Diapers, Baby formula, Onesies, toddler clothing, shoes, car seats, bottles, cups, baby food, baby gear, wipes, toys, food/meals, skin/haircare items, bags, blankets, etc….
Capacity of Abigails Closet services?
The capacity of Abigails Closet services depends on the level of commitment from the participating church.
